Once again we will have a variety of ticketed masterclasses and workshops available throughout the festival.
These masterclasses and workshops will be announced on Facebook, in Territory Taste Magazine
and also listed on this page as they are confirmed.
Limited tickets available to each class so make sure you book in quick when they are released!

Dumpling Workshop - How to make the best dumplings

Back by popular demand and hosted by Danny Yeum of Roast & Noodles 328 fame, the best Hong Kong roasted meats restaurant in Darwin.

The workshop will begin with a brief introduction about the origin and different types of dumplings.

Danny Yeum will then teach participants a few simple ways to make dumplings at home.

Apart from teaching how to make the dumplings, he will also be teaching two different ways to cook dumplings, using the soup and steam-based techniques.

Two all time favourite Asian dishes that make a delicious light lunch! Who better to teach you how to make them yourself than Danny Yeum of Roast & Noodles 328 fame.

The Smelly Cheese Shop from South Australia will take you on a cheese appreciation journey that will provide you with a complete sensory experience in the fun environment at the Territory Taste Festival.
There are three different classes to choose from and each one will present a deliciously inspiring selection of cheeses expertly paired with a selection of fine wines.

Phil O'Brien's Ploughman's Lunch Workshop

Learn the art of making damper and quick and simple Johnny Cakes on the coals with the Territory’s own Phil O’Brien. Phil will talk you through the secret to making the perfect corned beef, and how to prepare billy tea.

Then, once the work is done, participants will enjoy a typical outback meal of fresh damper, corned beef and tasty local relish, washed down with some refreshing billy tea whilst you listen to a song or two from the Territory’s own campfire singer extraordinaire!

Native Foods & Cocktails Workshop

Join Daniel Motlop from Something Wild and The Adelaide Hills Distillery for a journey through the flavours of and working with native ingredients, as well as a discussion on sustainable ‘foraging’ and the impacts it has on the outback and what is being done to support these local Indigenous communities.

Participants in this workshop will taste Negroni, Martini and Spritz cocktails as well as Green Ants, Magpie Geese, and Kangaroo, all using native ingredients from the Darwin area.

Humpty Doo Barramundi Farm Gate Tour

For the first time as part of the Territory Taste Festival Producers Pavilion, Humpty Doo Barramundi are inviting a small number of visitors on a guided farm gate tour. Situated along side the Adelaide River, guests will drive next to flood plains and channels, abundant with birds, wallabies and the occasional croc.
The bus will be met by a Humpty Doo Barramundi senior staff member, who will take a tour around the farm’s facilities and provide commentary.
Guests will see the ponds, nursery and barramundi fingerlings to learn about farming Barra in the Northern Territory.
Guests will also see how the production ponds provide a natural environment for Barramundi. Learn about the wetlands where water is reused, and how this process creates quality, great tasting Barramundi while reducing the impact on the natural environment.
After the tour, relax on the ‘Farm House’ balcony and enjoy grilled barra and barra sashimi platters.

An unconventional cooking class that takes participants through a journey of discovery led by Chef Kevin Cherkas from Cuca restaurant in Bali. The real meaning of “delicious” will be gently unravelled as Chef Kevin builds your ability to taste and understand flavours and teaches you the secret of how to create the tastiest dishes without ever again needing recipes.  This unique class goes far beyond any traditional cooking lesson: it unlocks the door to reveal a completely new creative approach to cooking.

Nam Khao Workshop with Betty Banks

Sydney born and raised, Betty Banks now calls Darwin home. She sums herself up as a step mother, wife to be, blogger, influencer and TV personality. She is passionate about connections and networking; all things advertising and marketing in digital and traditional media.

Now in the Territory, her plans are to rev up all aspects of the social media marketing and collaborations, creating short films and all things media to help small businesses grow. Covering all things, beauty, food, travel and fun in the Top End!

Being part of hit reality TV cooking show My Kitchen Rules, Season 8 – she showed off her skills in the kitchen and became a semi finalist, cooking her mother’s recipes which was taught to her from the age of 5.

As part of the Territory Taste Festival, Betty will be demonstrating how to prepare her Nam Khao – Lao Crispy Fried Rice.
